STRIGI GREEN
My Strigi pieces are the result of extensive manipulation of the mosaic during the glassblowing process. The elements of the patterns are geometric and grid-like when I begin the process, but the result is anything but. The patterning is fashioned from mosaic elements laid out to accentuate the interaction of colors as you look into and through. The glass bands and stripes in differing widths and colors are drawn into long pieces then cut and used to build the mosaic. The mosaic itself is then fused in the heat of the glassblowing furnace, sculpted and blown into shape. Complex patterning and overlay of pattern and texture along with semi metallic elements interact in different ways depending on the light, revealing new patterns with the changing light and perspective.
