Description
BARC began life as a mosaic of three colors combined in such a way as to give an ever changing view through the piece of the interactions between color, pattern and texture. The first step is to create the button like mosaic elements containing 3 colors each. Where these colors touch there is a chemical reaction between the silver, copper and gold in the colors that create even more visual effects. Each color is a unique compound so along with the clear crystal they react differently to the heat in the glassblowing process which further interprets the pattern and leaves a texture on the inside that creates further distortions as you look at, into and through the piece. In each piece of this type I can choose how much to work the colors, keeping the pattern distinct and tile like or, let it go a bit to achieve a more painterly expression of the colors.
